Why: the silent layer rides a high carrier, and its lower sideband (carrier minus voice detail) can dip into hearing range; sensitive ears catch it as a faint chirp or whine.
Check: open the silent layer panel: the spectrum view draws a dashed “lowest sideband” marker. If it sits below 15 kHz, or the carrier is set under 18 kHz, that is the source.
Fix: raise the carrier toward 18.5 kHz and/or lower the voice detail toward 2.8 kHz until the marker clears ~15.7 kHz. Even then: inaudible to most, not to all; young ears can catch 16–18 kHz.
